Taormina & Wine Tasting

Stage 1 – Departure from Messina

The tour starts from Messina, the ancient "gateway to Sicily," a city of history, legends, traditions, and modernity. Traveling along the scenic road that skirts the sickle-shaped natural harbor, we'll begin a picturesque journey along the coast, heading towards Taormina. The journey offers glimpses of the sea and the coastal landscape, a foretaste of the elegant, Mediterranean atmosphere of the day.

Stage 2 – Panoramic view of Isola Bella

Just before reaching the heart of Taormina, a short stop is planned at an exclusive panoramic point, ideal for admiring and photographing the famous Beautiful Island (Isola Bella). This nature reserve, nestled between the coast and crystal-clear waters, represents one of the most iconic symbols of eastern Sicily.

Stage 3 – Taormina

Arrived at Taormina we will pass through the historic Porta Catania arch, immersing ourselves in the city's rich past. The visit includes the magnificent Greek Theatre of Taormina (ticket not included), an extraordinary masterpiece of ancient engineering, famous for its scenic location with breathtaking views of Etna and the sea.

We will then continue towards the enchanting Florence Trevelyan Public Garden, a green oasis with an exotic charm that belonged to an English noblewoman linked to the court of Queen Victoria, who moved to Sicily after a scandal involving her in England. Subsequently, walking along Corso Umberto, the main street and ancient decumanus of the city, you will be surrounded by elegant boutiques, lively cafes, picturesque alleys and historic buildings that preserve the true essence of Taormina.

Stage 4 – Bonfiglio Cellars and tasting

At the end of the visit to Taormina, we will move towards the Bonfiglio Cellars, founded in 1986 and passed down through the generations. Here, tradition and innovation meet, creating wines that express Sicily in every sip.

The tasting (included in the price) will take place among the picturesque vineyards of Contrada Greco and Piano Cuturi, rolling hills overlooking the Strait of Messina. Welcomed and guided by the Bonfiglio family, you will discover the unique microclimate that makes this area ideal for native grape varieties such as Nerello Mascalese, Nocera, and Nero d'Avola.

During the tour, you'll be shown the production process, from manual harvesting to aging in French oak barrels, before proceeding to a tasting of the most representative labels. These include wines from the "Family Women" such as the Beatrice Faro DOC and the Eleonora Rosato, and those of the line "Places of Origin", such as Piano Cuturi Faro DOC and Kalonerò, blends that tell the ancient winemaking traditions of the area. The experience will be enriched by the Bonfiglio family's stories, for a complete sensory experience amidst authentic aromas, views, and flavors.

Stage 5 – Return to Messina

After a day of Sicilian hospitality, wine and breathtaking scenery, we will return to Messina, taking with us the flavours and memories of an authentic and engaging experience.
